By Laws

 

ARTICLE I. NAME

The name of this Serteen club is Rozvinuti` of Srdce. Rozvi, is short for Rozvinuti’ of Srdce or ‘Evolution of heart’ in Czech. This name was chosen for our community club because just as evolution does, we want our hearts to change for the better. We want to have a clearer prospective of the community and take one step at a time to make it a better place.

ARTICLE II. PURPOSE

To follow in Sertoma’s their footsteps as young adolescents, promoting good citizenship and service to the less fortunate. Our purpose is simple, to be of service to mankind, to take charge and make a change in the lives of many others.

ARTICLE III. MEETING

Regular meetings shall be held every other Monday at 4:20p.m. A quorum shall consist of no less than one-third of the active members of the chapter for voting purposes. Meetings shall be from August through May. Civic and social functions will be determined necessary.

ARTICLE IV. MEMBERS

Section 1. Young students enrolled and in good standing at Cedar Ridge High School are eligible for membership. Every member’s parent or guardian will be required to assist in one event per semester.Exceptions can be made on an individual basis as approved by the Executive Board.

Section 2. All past or present members must apply again each year for membership.

Section 3. The membership shall not exceed eighty (80) voted members.

Section 4. Interested students should contact members of the club to pledge membership. Members of the club will vote on all nominations. Applicants are nominated and voted on the first month of each semester. Membership is open to all CRHS students regardless of gender, race, creed, or color.

Section 5.  Exceptions to any given section above may be approved by a unanimous vote of the Executive Board.

 

ARTICLE V. DUES

Dues shall be twenty dollars ($20) per year, due in August. Any person becoming a member after January shall pay twenty dollars ($20) due by the second meeting after induction. This fee is for his/her shirt and scholarship fee.

ARTICLE VI. ATTENDANCE

Section 1. A member should notify their committee leader of an unavoidable absence from a regular meeting the Sunday, the day before the meeting. An absence may be approved only as determined by the Executive Board. Any member failing to notify the secretary of his/her absence will be unexcused.

Section 2. More than one unexcused absence from club meetings will be considered the member’s resignation. A member may appeal to the Executive Board, and if his/her explanations are accepted, his/her membership will be reinstated.

Section 3. Leave of absence shall be granted in cases of long illness or other satisfactory reasons to the Executive Board, and that member need not be included to determine a quorum.

Section 4. As a member of Rozvi you are committing yourself to participate in at least two civic events, one fund-raiser, and one social event. Failure to do so will be considered resignation from the club.

ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS

The By Laws may be amended by a unanimous vote of the members. An amendment must have been made and submitted in writing at a prior regular meeting before it can be voted upon.

ARTICLE VIII. FUNDRAISERS

Each member is required to work one fund-raiser per semester. Any member not participation in general fund-raisers will be assessed a fine relative to the fund-raiser. Before a club member may participate in special trips financed by the club, the member must be in good financial standing.

ARTICLE IX. RULE OF ORDER

The officers of this organization shall be President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Historian. These officers are elected in March meeting and take officers must attend the April Executive Board meeting and work with the current year officers.

ARTICLE X. DUTIES OF OFFICERS

PRESIDENT: The President directs affairs of the club in cooperation with the Executive Board. They call the meetings to order and proceeds with the meeting agenda and business (including suggesting projects to all members of the club).

1st VICE PRESIDENT: May be called upon at any time to assume temporarily the place of president in his/her absence and should make a thorough study of the duties and responsibility of the President. The 1st Vice-President is in charge of T-shirt orders (has to organize design and orders).

2nd VICE PRESIDENT: The 2nd Vice-President is in charge of public relations for the group and organizes making posters for meetings and events. The 2nd Vice-President will also organize the snack list sign-ups for meetings and is in charge of managing grade sheets. They will also be responsible to create a yearbook for the members to buy at the end of the year.

SECRETARY: The Secretary Job involves making sure all members have paid dues, sends out all the emails to the members about meetings and reminders about upcoming events. They are responsible for keeping accurate attendance records of the club meetings. They also write and send out a monthly newsletter to all members. She/he will notify members when their absences are excessive and send out probation/resignation letters at the end of each semester if necessary. Finally, they will send out all correspondence on behalf of the club (Ex. Thank you and sympathy cards, etc.)

PARLIAMENTARIAN: The Parliamentarian calls to order the meeting, keeps time, and follows the agenda set forth by the President.

HISTORIAN: The Historian takes photos at meetings, events, and puts together a scrapbook to add to a collection of volumes at the end of the year. In addition puts together an end of the year slideshow to be presented at the banquet.

OFFICERS will be required to meet several times during the year outside of regular club meetings. The dates will be set in the fall. In addition, officers need to be present at ALL civic events unless otherwise approved by the Executive Board.

ARTICLE XI. CLUB FUNDS If Rozvinuti` of Srdce disbands at any time, all funds in the Rozvi account will be automatically transferred to the Round Rock Sertoma Club for disbursement to the charities of their choice, excluding athletic charities
